Neon Burst Dogwood

Off

‘Neon Burst’ is a new selection of tartarian dogwood (Cornus albus) known for its vibrant chartreuse foliage. Tartarian dogwoods are multi‑stemmed shrubs rather than trees, prized for their colorful winter branches and year‑round ornamental interest.

‘Neon Burst’ offers striking red stems during the winter months, but its foliage is equally eye‑catching. Leaves emerge in spring as a bright lime green and hold their vivid color throughout summer. In autumn, the shrub shifts into a kaleidoscope of red, orange, and yellow tones. Small white flowers appear in spring, adding another layer of seasonal appeal.

This versatile shrub works well as a specimen plant, massed as a hedge, used as a foundation planting, or placed along pathways for structure and color. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, though too much shade will reduce foliage brightness. Moist, well‑drained soil is ideal. Mature plants reach 4–6 feet tall and wide. In late winter or early spring, trim back all the branches to about 1 foot. This will keep the branch colors vibrant in winter. After pruning, the shrub will quickly grow back to its original size by mid-summer.
