Daisy Bush
Daisy Bush (Senecio greyi or Brachyglottis greyi) is a plant with many wonderful characteristics. This New Zealand native has soft, velvety, evergreen leaves that are silvery-grey in color and yellow daisy-like flowers in summer. It is a slow to moderate grower, ultimately reaching 3-4 feet, but can be kept smaller by pinching and pruning. The growth habit forms a neat mound. The cheerful yellow blooms appear in June and last throughout the summer.
This is a plant that requires little fuss if given the right conditions. Plant it in an area with full sun (at least 6 hours) in a well-drained soil. Water regularly (at least once per week) during its first year. It is a drought-tolerant once established. To ensure continuous blooms, keep the soil consistently moist. Daisy Bush requires little maintenance and is seldom plagued by insects or fungal issues.
The plant will completely die back in the winter and come back the following spring. It is hardy to 10 degrees.
