Boston Ivy
Boston Ivy (Parthenocissus tricuspidata)) is a vigorous but glorious vine that captures attention in autumn when its leaves turn brilliant shades of crimson.
Easy to grow in either sun or shade, this vine requires little care, with the exception of pruning to maintain size. This is quite a vigorous vine, capable of reaching 60-80 feet and can cover buildings. The leaves cling by sucker discs located in the tendril ends of the leaves. It readily adheres to concrete, brick and wood surfaces and can damage painted surfaces. This is a deciduous vine and looses its leaves during the winter months.
Bluish/black berries appear in fall, as the leaves are turning, and are eaten by birds.
Used appropriately, Boston Ivy is a stunning vine.
