We have been your neighbor since 1965. As a local, family owned business we have grown with our neighbors over the past 50 years in Clark County.
Roy Sonney, a hard-working Ridgefield spudder, with a big idea, started Ridgefield Woodwaste in the early 1950’s. After successfully hauling wood waste products to farmers, he decided to launch a retail space in what was considered the very outskirts of Vancouver: Hazel Dell. Having worked for a grower in Felida in high school, he decided to combine the idea of hauling bark products with a nursery selling plant material. In 1965 he recruited his sister, LaVada Harris, to help run the store and Yard ‘n Garden Land was born.

After 35 years of being on the corner of ’99 & 99’, our store moved across 99th street, to a brand new building with 5 acres of land. Roy was the very backbone of this business for many, many years, even into retirement. He and his wife LaDonna’s three children, Greg, Mark, and Vicki transitioned to the business owners over the years and it is still in the Sonney family today. Roy passed away in May, 2013 but his legacy is still very much alive.
